I attended the groundbreaking ceremony last week for the High Line
in New York City. The High Line is an elevated railway in Manhattan's West Side
that is being converted into what will surely be one of the most beautiful parks
in New York.
Friends of the High Line asked if they could print my flower image onto two
hundred lime-green hard hats that were worn by invited guests. I whole heartedly
agreed.... my flower symbolizes growth and renewal, exactly what the High Line
is all about.
I was surprised when Mayor Bloomberg told me that he liked the flower design...
hmmm... I was anticipating the graffiti task force to greet me. I asked the mayor
if he would wear the hat for the photo, but he preferred to just hold it. Darn.
Aside from Mayor Bloomberg, some of the speakers/guests included Hillary
Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Barry Diller, Diane von Furstenberg, Ed Norton,
Kevin Bacon and Friends of the High Line co-founders Joshua David and Robert
Hammond.
