Street Art, 11 Spring Street, NYC, 2006
Back in 2006, Wooster Collective hosted the 11 Spring Street show, a who's who of street art.
It was held at New York's famed "Candle Building" and was one of the top-ten cultural events of 2006
as selected by Roberta Smith of the New York Times.
The entire 5 floor building featured street art and graffiti from international artists who flew in
specifically for the event. It was an incredible experience and drew massive crowds. The line snaked
around the entire block with people waiting hours to experience the show.
Up until the invitation to participate, I had been installing works on the facade for about fourteen years
but had never been inside or knew what it looked like. Some of my history on that building including the cover
piece for my book, "Alphabet City" and it's "mushroom" page.
The New York Times featured Randy Kennedy's coverage of the exhibition
and here is Roberta Smith's Year In Review.
