Way back in 1992 or so, while I was attending the School of Visual Arts in New York City, I came up with a flower design while brainstorming with a fat brush, alot of paper and black paint. I immediately liked one of the flower images and made a silk screen of it. I've always enjoyed printmaking and the ability it gives you to create as many copies as you want. |
I printed hundreds of them before I decided to actually hang them on various street surfaces ranging from newspaper dispensers to city buses. It just seemed to make sense and it felt really good. It still feels good and I haven't stopped.
Over the years, I've glued thousands of flowers in New York City's streets. I've also painted murals; and from then on, the project has traversed the globe.

Since the flower project's inception, it has enjoyed exposure in countless news articles and media outlets and has even appeared in an international Joe Cocker music video.
Most important to me though, are the people I've met and continue to meet through this project. I'm continually amazed at how much fun and how many smiles a simple little flower can spread in such a big place.
