Street Art, New Orleans, Louisiana - Underwater Series
In December and January of '08 and '09, I was in New Orleans.
Being my first time in New Orleans, I can honestly say I was deeply moved
and impressed with so many aspects of the city... it's warmth, hospitality,
resilience and beauty. I learned a lot about the city and I also learned a lot
about myself.
The physical and emotional effects of Katrina are easily seen and felt.
In many ways, I felt that my own small contributions of street art were
insignificant given what the city has gone through and is still experiencing.
Hopefully though, my work can provide residents and visitors with a little smile,
some magic, or more.
My decision to continue my "underwater" silhouette series in a city torn to pieces
by a hurricane is my way of reintroducing the more positive aspects and relationships
we have with water.
I'm looking forward to returning soon. It was a real priviledge to be there and
contribute a little of what I do on the streets.
Massive thanks to Gary, Ken, Linda, Ian, Michael, Max, Fred, Betty, Mark and Joy ...
you all kick ass!
